The firm employs a Construction Manager with over 35 years of experience with some of the region’s leading construction firms. He has overseen projects of various sizes including some valued at up to $142 million. He is especially skilled in troubleshooting and turning around large scale projects that are behind schedule and over budget, and establishing and building relationships with government agencies, architects, building owners and representatives, as well as sub-contractors and laborers. His previous projects have included Sheeting and Shoring; Vertical Construction, Concrete Operations, and Structural Steel, for Base Buildings, Tenant Fit Outs, and Renovations. He has completed work ahead of schedule, and exceeded expectations regarding cost controls and profits for Government Projects, Office Buildings, Computer Centers, and Medical Facilities. Clients have included the Department of the Army, the Maryland Airports Authority, the United States Postal Service, and numerous other public agencies and private developers. ODG has a Virginia Class A Contractor License.
Historic Rehabilitation of MacKenzie Hall Portico, Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Belvoir, Virginia
Design and Construction for the rehabilitation of the historic Portico of MacKenzie Hall, which serves as Ft. Belvoir’s Officers Club. Work includes structural repairs, including columns and framing, millwork, roof replacement, and ADA upgrades to the main entrance. The portico is primarily of wood construction and work includes columns and doors, balustrade and entablature repairs, and Americans with Disability Act (ADA) upgrades to the main entrance. The rehabilitation is required to comply with LEED criteria and comply with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for Historic Rehabilitation.
Locust Street Historic Residential Rehabilitation and Addition, Cambridge, Maryland
Design and Construction includes complete renovation to an existing 3,400 gsf single family Historic Residence, a Porch Addition, and a new Carriage House. ODG incorporated sustainable and disaster resilient systems into the project without damaging the historical character of the house. The timber frame structure was repaired and reinforced with sistered joists, hurricane ties, and repaired cross bracing. The foundation was rebuilt and the roof is being replaced. Sustainable features include water reuse systems and low flow fixtures to achieve 50% water savings, energy efficient envelope, radiant slab heating, and a solar panel system to achieve utility cost savings.
801 17th Street, NW Interior Fit Out, Washington, DC*
This 102,000 SF, five-floor tenant fit out was completed on schedule for $10 million. ODG’s Construction Manager, Charles Arnold, supervised construction which included installing a reclaimed plank entry, custom steel open riser stairway, custom seating, custom millwork, and a decorative metal panel ceiling within a LEED Platinum office building. Spaces included offices, conference rooms, lobbies, and a dining area for the users. The fit out achieved LEED Silver.
