Belle Haven Marina Renovation

ODG provided architectural design, master planning, and project management services for the layout of 135 wet and dry slips incorporating Green Marina principles at an existing three acre marina. This project was located on federal property; hence master planning had to be coordinated with the National Capital Region Comprehensive Plan and Fairfax County Comprehensive Plans.

ODG presented the guiding principles of the new layout to a 750 person audience, which addressed:

  • Protection of the adjacent marsh
  • Environmental concerns of the existing marina
  • Activities the renovated marina will be able to support
  • Design of a viable operation that would allow a concessionaire to recoup their investment.

The audience accepted the new layout with a standing ovation.

ODG recommended and assisted the marina to become a State of Virginia “Clean Marina”. Site planning, new dock layout, and coordination with several governmental departments were included in the scope of this project. A progressive review from the National Environmental Policy Act’s (NEPA) Environmental Assessment was also performed in which ODG acted as the NEPA liaison. ODG worked with PCCI Engineers to prepare a preliminary cost estimate. Estimated cost for this project was $1,500,000.
