Oriole Residence Renovation and Addition

ODG provided architectural design services for the renovation of and addition to an existing two story wood frame house. The client requested an expansion of their home on the first and second floor. The residence is comprised of two stories and a basement, or approximately 1,180 gsf per floor. The front façade is brick and the remainder of the house is clad in wood.

ODG designed the 2-1/2 story daylight-filled atrium with views to the rear garden on two levels. The new addition is 740 gsf. The new kitchen was designed at the lower level of the atrium space with views of the garden and opens to the rear deck for outdoor dining. It includes an island, breakfast area, and circular stairs leading to the upper level. The living room was expanded with access to the rear deck and garden.

All circulation on the second floor opens to the new atrium with views of the garden. The new master bedroom suite was also designed with rear garden views. Skylights were added to the new baths. ODG specified interior and exterior finishes. Work for this project was completed in 2003.
