ODG provided architectural design services for the renovation of and addition to a 1,818 gsf residence. This project involved redesigning the layout of the existing floors, continuing the design of the existing wrap-around porch, and designing a new 2,671 gsf addition.
Although the original single cell residence had beautiful proportions, later additions were planned haphazardly. ODG’s solution was to design a new entry hall around which the other rooms could be functionally organized. Throughout the design, ODG retained the character of the original single cell residence.
ODG developed schematic drawings, produced construction drawings, and provided construction administration. Additional services included energy calculations, installation and planning for a Jacuzzi, demolition planning, and selecting interior and exterior finishes.
The addition included two new bedrooms, a master bedroom, second floor balcony for the master bedroom, new roof, first floor wraparound porch, remodeled kitchen and dining room, two full baths, and a stairway connecting the existing first floor to the new second floor.
The total size of the residence after the renovation and addition is approximately 4,489 gsf. The architectural work for this project was completed in 2004.
